Just by sharing information about your family you help the EYPCF to understand the needs of children and young people with SEND in the East Riding and inform our discussions with local decision makers. If the EYPCF is well supported by parent carers, then it is a clear statement that parent carers want to have a voice and to contribute to local and national decision making.
In return you will become part of a supportive community that understands your life. You will receive regular information about issues that are important to your family, meet other parent carers and be invited to participate in events where you can have direct discussions with local services and decision makers.
There is no cost to becoming an EYPCF member, we just ask that you share some basic information with us about your family and how we can contact you. All members receive EYPCF updates by email keeping you up to date on our work, opportunities to get involved and other SEND news. We provide a mix of information about participation opportunities and training events that are happening locally.

Become a member of EYPCF and join hundreds of other parents and carers from across the East Riding. We are a charity run by and for parents and carers of children and young people with additional needs and disabilities.
We are dedicated to getting parent/carers’ voices heard so they can inform the planning and delivery of services they use.
We attend meetings with local and regional service providers giving parent carers’ views and experiences of health, education and social care ensuring that parent carers’ needs are represented.
The forum focuses on improving services by influencing commissioners and decision makers, based on the view that disabled children and their parents best understand what they need from the services in their area.
The forum is run by a group of volunteers, all of whom are Parent Carers themselves with the support of our Forum Coordinator Helen and Forum Administrator, Michelle who work part time hours to give assistance to the committee.
There are lots of ways you can be involved with the forum that can offer you opportunities to meet other parent carers whilst helping us become a stronger voice for families of disabled children in the East Riding of Yorkshire.
- SOCIAL HOSTS – Would you like to bring parent carers together in your area? Why not help us set up a regular social meet and listening event? You can do this as an individual or a small group.
- REPRESENTATIVES – Receive free training to develop your advocacy skills and receive a voluntary remuneration for attending meetings to give the views of Parent Carers.
- COMMITTEE MEMBERS – Help with the strategic management of the Forum, we meet every 6-8 weeks for coffee/lunch and plan the forum’s work for the coming months.
You’re free to get involved as much or as little as you wish and at any time you can send us your comments about services using our contact form.
If you would like to get more involved, you can join the Steering Group by downloading the registration form here. The EYPCF Steering Group is made up of a group of members (all parents of children and young people with SEND) who are responsible for the management of the forum, and they represent the East Ridings parent carers at specific meetings. They make sure that parent carers’ views are fed into decisions about children’s services at a strategic level.
EYPCF will ensure that any personal information that you share with us is kept securely and only used for the purposes that you have specifically agreed to.
Thank you for your support.
